Race to uncover the Bigfoot of Baldur’s Gate 3 cutscenes hots up as YouTuber dangles $500 carrot in front of anyone who can find it-

There’s a bounty out on Karlach. No, not the one she starts the game under, and which you can collect on if you’re some kind of terrible monster. That one was placed by a fell creature from the depths of hell itself, whereas this bounty was placed by a fell creature known as a YouTuber.

Videogame video-maker Proxy Gate Tactician has offered a $500 reward to anyone who can catch Faerûn’s favourite tiefling breaking the fourth wall (via GamesRadar).

As you might have read on PC Gamer dot com, BG3 game files uncovered by a different YouTuber named Chubblot show a scene in which Karlach is struck by the horrifying realisation that she’s in a videogame. It’s a great little skit, with Karlach gesturing at everything from the game’s enormous web of cho…

Since they can’t play Light No Fire yet, Hello Games fans are keeping busy by drawing dragons-

Last month at The Game Awards we finally got our first look at Sean Murray’s followup to No Man’s Sky—and it’s a huge one. In its next game, Light No Fire, Hello Games is trading infinite procedural planets for a single world, but that one open world is going to be the size of an actual planet.

That’s a big promise, and there’s plenty of healthy skepticism about Light No Fire. At the same time, there’s lots of genuine excitement (it’s already in the top 20 of Steam’s most wishlisted games) and no small amount of speculation about how the Earth-sized survival adventure will work. Apart from that one trailer we still don’t really know all that much about Light No Fire yet, except that it’s fantasy themed rather than science fiction: players will fly around the open world with …

Our favorite gaming monitor for $850 is the perfect opportunity to go OLED ultrawide-

Gaming monitors can inspire something of a fierce debate here at PC Gamer, but if there’s one thing we can all agree on it’s this: The Alienware 34 AW3423DWF is a truly glorious slab of gaming display, and now it’s back at under $850 it’s the perfect time to grab one if you couldn’t quite commit over the previous sales.

Yep, when it comes to the best gaming monitors we currently recommend, this big beautiful display comes out top overall, and looking at the specs alone it’s really not difficult to see why. It’s got a superb 34-inch ultrawide QD-OLED panel with a gentle yet encompassing 1800R curve, a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3,440 by 1,440 native resolution, which all sounds just lovely. However, it’s that glossy coating that really makes the difference.

Frostpunk 2- How to transfer oil and other resources from your colony to your city

You’ve struck oil in Frostpunk 2, but it’s not going to do you much good out in the frozen frostland. You’ll need to extract the oil (also known as black gold and Texas tea in some parts) and then transfer it to your city. It’s not a complicated process but the tool that lets you transfer resources between your colony and your city can be a little hard to spot when there’s so many other icons and notifications and UI elements on your screen.

In Frostpunk 2, your starting city isn’t your only city. As you explore the frostland outside your borders you’ll eventually find oil and other resources. These are usually in settlements where you can set up an automated, one-way supply line back to your city, but some locations are bigger and can be colonized. That means r…

Runescape community claims ‘supreme victory’ as developer apologizes and cuts pay-to-win features from hated battle pass-

In the wake of a furious backlash from players, Runescape developer Jagex has admitted that it “messed up” and is making major changes to the recently-announced Hero Pass to remove all the “controversial features” that touched off the uproar.

The announcement of the Hero Pass, a new monetization system that was meant to exist alongside Runescape’s existing subscription fee, did not go over well: Angry messages flew on the official Runescape forums and subreddit, players claimed they’d quit the game and cancelled their accounts, a review bombing campaign was launched on Steam, and a video on the whole mess posted by YouTuber Asmongold attracted more than 1,200 comments.

Jagex initially tried to quell the unrest and ride it out, saying in a September 6 blog post, “We’ve been l…

The next Magic- The Gathering set wants you to do crimes-

One of the mechanics coming to Magic: The Gathering in the western-themed Outlaws of Thunder Junction set is called Crime. It’s a way of rewarding outlaw behavior, with Crime specifically defined as using your spells or abilities to directly target an opponent, anything they control, or even their discards. When you do so, that’s called committing a Crime, and it’ll trigger effects from all your other criminal-themed cards in play.

For instance: Magda, the Hoardmaster pays you a treasure token if you commit a crime that turn, and will eventually let you spend three accumulated treasures to summon a 4/4 scorpion dragon. The Freestrider Lookout lets you scout out the top five cards of your deck when you commit a Crime, while the Hardbristle Bandit untaps, so you can u…

The fantasy sequel to Fights in Tight Spaces is just called Knights in Tight Spaces, and it has a demo out now-

Get ready for some close-up card-driven brawling, because battler Fights in Tight Spaces has a sequel-spinoff coming: Knights in Tight Spaces, a fantasy themed throwdown that’ll have you take a party of ruffians engaging in a tactical brawl against not just action movie mooks like the first game, but skeletons and wizards and rock monsters.

It’s just as stylized as the first game was, though definitely refined into something even prettier than before, with a hybrid kind of lined and woodcut print looking aesthetic that’s much easier to read than the prior game’s black-and-red-on-white.

“Knights in Tight Spaces is a tactical deckbuilding game in the same universe as Fights in Tight Spaces, the successful game by Ground Shatter. It is a standalone title that sends us back to m…

Dragon Age- Dreadwolf video teases new lands ‘you’ve never heard of before,’ full reveal coming next year-

Watch On

BioWare has dropped a new teaser for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, offering fans a brief glimpse at some of the realms they’ll travel to in the upcoming RPG—some of them familiar, and some that have never been seen (or even heard of) before.

The teaser arrives on Dragon Age Day—imagine the 4 in December 4 as an A—and provides a brief look at some of the locales that will appear in Dreadwolf, including Antiva, Rivain, the Anderfels, and the Grey Warden headquarters of Weisshaupt Fortress.

In a blog post, BioWare said the video also has “perhaps a little more for those who listen closely.”

Rock and roll destroyed my hearing so I’m not much use when it comes to pinpointing voices and fine aural details, but there’s definitely an ominous tone here…

Well that didn’t take long- Diablo 4 is coming to Steam-

Boy, that sure didn’t take long. Blizzard announced today that Diablo 4, the latest iteration of its demon-clobbering action-RPG, will be coming to Steam on October 17, and is available for wishlisting now.

Diablo 4 on Steam will support cross-platform play with other versions of the game—Battle.net, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5—and will offer unique Steam-specific features including Steam achievements and integration with the Steam friends list. It will also be playable on the Steam Deck.

The launch of Diablo 4 on Steam will coincide with the start of the Season of Blood, the game’s second season and Blizzard’s hoped-for bounceback from the mess of season one. The Season of the Malignant, as it’s known, did not go over well with fa…

With the necromancer, Vermintide 2 is getting a pet class at last-

Fatshark said it would continue to support Vermintide 2 after the launch of Darktide and has done just that, with additions like new free levels and remastered levels from the original Vermintide. Next up, pyromancer Sienna will finally get her fourth career: the necromancer.

Each of Vermintide’s other heroes has had a fourth career added as DLC, with Kruber getting the option to become a grail knight, Bardin an engineer, Kerillian a Sister of the Thorn, and Saltzpyre a warrior Priest. We’ve been waiting a while for Sienna to receive a similar treatment, and design director Joakim Setterberg explained why in a recent dev blog. “Looking at the career designs it was clear that the Necromancer would be the most complex class of the bunch,” he wrote, “and that it made most sense for i…

You can score a 240Hz Samsung gaming monitor that gives true meaning to the term ‘ultrawide’ for $800 right now-

Technically any gaming monitor with an aspect ratio above of 21:9 or above is deserving of the title of ‘ultrawide’. But few have earned it like this Samsung Odyssey G9 DQHD.

Effectively two 1440p gaming monitors strapped together, this Samsung monitor comes with 49 inches of 240Hz, DisplayHDR 1000 panel to play with. That all sounds expensive, and I guess it still is, but it’s a bit easier on the bank account thanks to a deal that whips $500 off the asking price. It’s down to $800 over on Amazon today.

Just be sure to hit the $100 coupon check box for the full discount. Otherwise you’ll pay an additional $100 tax for being clumsy.

I fondly remember the first time I gawked at a 49-inch gaming monitor. It also was a Samsung and I was the envy of all the offi…

My second guess practically handed me today’s Wordle on a plate—it’s a shame I couldn’t quite see it at the time, and ended up fumbling around for all sorts of odd words that perhaps only exist inside my own head. Still, a messy win in four is much better than no win at all.

Your RTX 40-series GPU will face its biggest challenge yet next month-

At GDC, CD Projekt Red is showing off the future of ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077, one bouncing neon light at a time. It’s set to arrive with a new graphics preset, Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode, which will come to the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 on April 11. This gives you enough time to track down an RTX 4080 and its powerful frame-generating magic. You’re going to need it.

In what Nvidia calls a “technology preview,” Overdrive Mode will feature path tracing, aka full ray tracing, announced last year, that’ll “accurately simulates light throughout an entire scene.”. Light sources will now cast “physically correct soft shadows,” and colored lighting will bounce multiple times in a scene. In a game like Cyberpunk that’s drenched with neon lights, it’ll create more realistic direct …
